the mini session

The most popular type of session I shoot in the Fall is definitely the mini session. Which is really just a shortened version of a regular session shot back to back with other clients on the same day. The families featured below each came out on the same October session day and it was a fun challenge to try to tailor the same location to the personality of each different family. This year, I have upped the number of images included in a mini session from 10 to 15 images, because it’s always so hard to narrow them down! Even though the session is only 30 minutes long, we always get a great variety and have a ton of fun. This family was so awesome. I always kinda cringe when a mom says she has tween/teen boys, because I know they probably won’t be too excited about a photo shoot. But these boys were definitely an exception. I am so blessed to have such great families!

 

These girls and their family have been returning clients since their oldest was a toddler. Which really doesn’t make them clients at all anymore, it makes them friends. It has been such a privilege to capture them as they grow. Love them!

And this family had NEVER had a family picture made. And their kids are in college! Soooooo glad they asked me to do this for them this Fall. I hope they don’t wait quite so long for the next one.;)There is nothing sweeter than a toothless grin, but TWO of them? At the same photo session? Let’s just say that these little girls with their super sweet smiles and big chocolate eyes had my heart from the first click of my camera that day.

at the park

A session at the park seemed like the perfect place for a family session with active, twin boys.

And after seeing their little faces light up with sheer joy as they ran around and enjoyed themselves, we all decided it was the perfect place indeed.

I spent the last few days giving this place a bit of a face lift and transforming it from a blog to a ‘blogsite’. Which really only means that I disabled my outdated old website and used the fantastic plugin available from prophoto to move my galleries and content over here to one centralized place. And since the majority of the images on my old site hadn’t been updated since 2008; trust me, this was a good thing.

Sooo, now I can finally say….”back to regularly scheduled posting”. But we all know that there is nothing regular about my posting.  So I guess I should say…”back to infrequent posting with hopes to do better!”:)

For this senior session, we actually had to meet three times to capture the variety of images that she was hoping for. Once downtown, once in a field, and once at her  second home (the softball field). It was so much fun trying such completely different looks and so well fitting for a girl who wears a lot of different hats and does it all so beautifully.

trick or treat

Five years ago it was a knight, his princess, and a dragon. One of those nights when it felt like it took all we had just to get them ready and out the door. One of those nights where they could not wait to put on their costumes and transform into their characters. Where there were tears, but giggles of excitement too. Where there were sugar highs. And sugar lows. And at the end of the night, there were worn out kiddos with a mom and dad who rummaged through all the candy and stole the butterfingers.

Last night it was Cleopatra, her princess, and her mummy.  One of those nights when it felt like it took all we had just to get them ready and out the door. One of those nights where they could not wait to put on their costumes and transform into their characters. Where there were tears, but giggles of excitement too. Where there were sugar highs. And sugar lows. And at the end of the night, there were worn out kiddos with a mom and dad who rummaged through all the candy and stole the butterfingers.

The circumstances of the last five years may not have changed all that much. But the little people? Well they have changed so much that comparing these pictures side by side made me stop and catch my breath. And then pray a prayer of thankfulness. For the gift of experiencing it all with them.
